Thanks Danny. Big Grin I can't wait for anyone else's opinion before revealing all Wink
Five people said they'd bin it and 8 people said they'd eat it.
I went one step further and said I'd collect it and either eat it, give it to the dogs or compost it. I won. Big Grin
I was told there was some meat, apple pie and vegetables including chips. That was a bit of an understatement as I collected 2 bags of Waitrose food! Turkey joints in gravy, chicken meals, beef, sausages, kippers, an apple and an apricot pie, green beans, chips and ??? frozen pasta (cooks in 2 minutes).
It filled one of the baskets in the bottom of the freezer, which had been full of forgotten cranberries, blueberries and cooked rhubarb. A good swap!
I’m another, Eat it.
No such thing as out of date frozen food, except if it's got freezer burn, or perhaps bacon gone rancid. P will eat what he's given Big Grin
How about eating out of date tinned food? I know your answer to that question! Today's IN was a bag of odds and ends - 2 huge tins of Cassoulet from France. Not sure about the ingredients but I know there's haricot beans and gigantic sausages (the dogs will enjoy these), a small tin of "Spiced tomato mix with pickle juice", a packet of French instant mash, Chia seeds, Irish Black Butter hazelnut spread and Apple chutney (not sure I like the taste of these two), a tin of green tea sachets and last, but not least, an air-dried sausage with myrtle berries. Gave me quite a shock when I found it in the bottom of the bag. Reminded me of something Wink .
Also IN came some baby talc, oil and vaseline and some Christmas scented candles - one is supposed to smell of a woodfire!
OUT went a couple of small tealight glasses to someone who had broken one of the same size on Santa's sleigh.
IN today came a laptop bag and mouse mat with wrist rest (mine is in need of replacement) and a wooden bread box which has become a crisp packet box. Looks much tidier than the old cardboard box they were in!
Went to the £5 Pantry this morning Big Grin KFC chicken, a Christmas pie, Root veg Cottage pie, Vegan goujons, potatoes, carrots, stirfry mix, avocadoes, pears, vine tomatoes (look wonderful but tasteless), lettuce, cucumber, plums, tinned tomatoes and peaches (not together), custard doughnuts, bread, foccacia, crumpets, Tomato & basil soup (M&S), soft drink cans, crisps and lollipops. Big Grin
Happy with that lot!
Veggie when you have a mixed haul like that you'll have to tell us which is your favourite bit.
I like it all for its randomness! I've chosen most of the items listed on an "Either this or that" basis. Obviously, the meaty things aren't in my box but I'm told the bag of KFC is worth more than £5 on its own.
Its good to be able to try things that I wouldn't buy - like some of the vegan meals. The fresh fruit bowl is always full and plenty of fresh veg to eat. When I go to Morries now its for coffee and dogfood and maybe yellow stickers. Not much else
There's enough food for £10 to feed us for a week. Some of it goes straight in the freezer and a few bits end up in the hotbin but none of it is wasted. I see it as a challenge to base my meals around whatever I receive and I'm probably eating more fresh fruit & veg than I would without the Pantry.
I forgot to add 8 sachets of porridge to my list yesterday.
As a bonus, its nice going there now that they know me and some of my likes and dislikes. One lady helper has an allotment so we compare growing notes, another talks cooking. There's usually a laugh to be had with someone!
I would kill for a bag of KFC for £5.  Big Grin .
As it happens I’m having KFC for my tea    Big Grin . Bobs gone to Stirling to collect building materials and he has to pass a KFC.
OUT today went 2 pairs of old denim jeans - to a lady who makes things from denim. I've no idea what!
