I've recently had a small clear-out of books and for the first time checked their re-sale price with a book buying site. The upshot was that I sent them 2 books and got nearly £8 for them, plus I have a small pile to go to another site when I've packaged them up. They are collected by hermes for free. The ones that the book sites won't take have gone to charity. These were mostly fiction and recipe books.
Thanks Moth, I'll have a look to see what sites you refer to, although as most of my books are charity shop fiction, I'm not hoping for too much.
I've just picked up 2 big boxes of books - I only went to collect about half a box full but was "persuaded" to take the rest.
Some of them I won't read - autobiographies of people I have no interest in whatsoever but I'm sure somebody will want them. they've gone straight into my "get rid" heap.
That's 2 boxes of books IN and going OUT one of those eye masks they give you on flights so you can sleep. Somebody wanted them so that her kids can play blindfold games! Once again, IN and OUT do not balance each other .
In the last few days - IN with a fireguard and a baby gate (to be repurposed as garden fencing); an electric drill; 2 bags of dog food, a pair of crocs (too small) and a cuddly toy pug dog (to be given to a family with a real life pug).
OUT - some books and a bag of toiletries for a Women's Refuge
...........again, More INs than OUTS, though the crocs and pug will be OUT soon.
I've been out food "shopping" - 3 huge bags of tinned food (soup, beans, spaghetti, tuna, corned beef, evaporated milk), a jar of coffee and a box of chocolates - all said to be 1 - 2 months out of date. I'm not sure what date they were reading but some tins I've looked at are good until March 2022.
Apparently it was bought last winter when they thought it was going to be a hard winter!
I really can't understand why people take tinned food use by dates as gospel. The food doesn't go from edible to rotten overnight.
BTW, anyone have a good way of using up 16 tins of Heinz spaghetti in tomato sauce?
Tinned spaghetti sandwiches (a NZ speciality when I was a kid) I really liked them in those days, although not tried them recently

It would with me - I'm such a messy eater.
I may have to join you on the Freecycling soon. My vendor has left me lots of things that I am very happy to have (like her settees, and lots of garden stuff) but also a few things that I can't see myself keeping, but somebody else may be able to find a use for. For example, there are some very old curtain tie-backs with pink tassels and fake flowers. I can't imagine anyone wanting them for their intended purpose, but I suspect they could be taken apart and used for crafts so I don't like the idea of just throwing them away.
I'm hoping to spend tomorrow going through the shed, greenhouse, and garage to sort everything left there into keep, bin/recycle, and give-away piles.

I think it might. All I can remember is very fresh sliced white bread with this red tomatoey goo inside, I don't expect I was too worried about the mess, not much has changed. Go on give it a try, live dangerously. I'm tempted to try it but buying a tin of spaghetti and white plastic bread especially seems wrong.
