Just finished macerating a large batch of strawberries .

https://www.suddenlunch.com/strawberries/

Glad its done s I was losing the will to live while slicing them up! Rolleyes
Added a little bit Grand Marinier, purelybecause I had some.Smile Washed my digital scales and even though I dried them well, they went beserk. Finished up having to guestimate so hope I have got it right. Cry

Once macerated I will freeze it and because it shouldn't set hard with the sugar and alcohol I should be able to take  some of it without needing an axe or saw to break it up! Cool
Could you freeze it in an ice cube tray so that you could use it a cube at a time?

Possibly? Huh I don't exactly know what I am doing with it, I just didn't want strawberries to go to waste. I 've given loads to my Daughter but I fear she will hide behind the curtains if I land with any more. Rolleyes I will probably use it for an ice cream addition but could use flavoured ice cubes in drinks?
I no doubt will have another bucket to collect this evening so the next lot will be jam! Cool After that, gawd knows? Rolleyes
At least its nice to have a glutSmile
I had too many and so I quartered and mashed them and put into plastic bag lined old 500g spread tubs and froze them. They stack and take up less space than freezing whole. When frozen the tubs can be taken off and used for the next lot. Figuring I like my strawbs gooey they'll be fine with some cream on.
Not sure how long to let the strawbs marinade in the sugar? Just going to leave them overnight.
^^^ That's what you'd do for jam making so should by fine.

I've been moving around with the shade. Continued clearing the old rockery, cut down a ?Myrtle bush that was stopping me getting to one of the waterbutts. Also cut down a couple of ash saplings. Did some weeding in the Beanery - though there aren't many bean plants this year. Must sow some more or it'll be a beanfree winter.
Grazed on raspberries as I wandered around - very refreshing.

If you have space to freeze them in a bag lying flat so they're in a thin layer they might break up more easily when frozen.  Smile

Today fed and watered the tomatoes.
Planted kale - 4 cavolo nero and 7 as yet unidentified from a mixed pack.
Planted out some zinnias.
Weeded a couple of veg beds.
And cleared the first row of mangetout.
Took Hetty for her first, quick visit to the plot.

All of the globe artichokes I planted a couple of weeks ago had been attacked and 3 destroyed. I decided to bring the others back and pot them on for this year.

Tided my tomato jungle in the back yard!
