Oh you have more patience than I do Garrett! I would let them grow on until I can handle them, and then I would... manhandle them. Rough and ready lol

I got some of the compost out that I bought just over a week ago, and goodness me, what a difference in quality of the compost! I know this stuff is bad for the environment, and I would never condone buying it and I feel guilty as anything, but jesus christ, I could work with that compost until my dying day if there was any way I could have that compost without it being so bad. It is a total dream, and I will savour that compost until it's gone.

I've tidied up the greenhouse (the one that was left here for us) so I can put some seedlings in there, of the hardier type. It looks lovely in there now Smile
Afternoon all.

Long story but I have been out shifting rocks about to see if I have enough to build a low wall. I have come to the conclusion I probably will have enough after putting them in a pile similar in size to the wall I want to build. Rolleyes
Next job is to take a out a 12 metre long privet hedge and either build a fence myself or get a local contractor in to do it Huh ? The low etaining wall will be for about 3  metres along the bottom of the fence for where there is a difference in height between my garden and next doors garden.
I got a couple of quotes for some offroad parking (rustic sets)on my front lawn area but they can't do it until late May, (other quote was for late June). Both are from local one-man-band firms so don't mind waiting.
Was going to go to rockfit this evening but after shifting rocks, I realise my breathing is not up to it! Rolleyes
Removed most of the debris netting from the 3 joined GHs. The ground between it and the next door garden has been taken over by raspberries and brambles so I ventured in and started hacking. Not sure what I plan to do with this bit of the garden but I'm sure I'll think of something.Wink
Intend to remove the 3 compost bays, as the pallets are rotting and there's nothing composty in them now. The collapsing storage box that backs onto them will also go. Time for a clean sweep and a rethink.
Learned my lesson about not using good-quality module trays in the propagator. I've always used cheapo module trays before, so they are easy to cut into smaller pieces (even individual cells) when things sprout at different times. Can't do the same thing with really good solid trays! Instead, I have spent half an hour removing the compost from the few unsprouted cells and moving it into individual pots to go back in the propagator.
I placed a poly sun tunnel on my raised bed last week, to heat the soil up a bit, so today I planted out some onion sets that I had started off in the greenhouse, I intended just growing from seed this year, but couldn't resist buying some sets as a backup, I also have been monitoring the soil temperature in the other raised bed which I had covered with several layers of weed membrane and as has been staying above 5c I hopefully will plant some potatoes tomorrow
I've sown carrots (three varieties), Gurnsey parsnips and kohl rabi (Delicacy White) in the soil in the old pond Big Grin
Did the weekly sow list, weeded the hosta pots, tidied the pot shelves in the shed as there aren't many pots in there at the moment. De-gunged the pond a bit.

Gales last night blew an arch over so while MrPP did the repair I cut back the honeysuckle which had made it very top heavy. Hopefully the black caps who had started to nest build will come back. Sad
Dug up the last of my parsnips.
Started clearing the bolting brassicas - it's always a balance between leaving the flowering plants for the pollinators and not providing a nice comfey nursery for cabbage aphids! Dug the moles runs out of that area and weeded ready for a first sowing of parsnips.
Sowed phacelia (again - fresh seed) in the future leek bed.
Cut the edges of the grass paths in the potager - the garss is growing fast.
Put up a bird box.
Uncovered things in the tunnel for the day. Will be going to cover them all up again soon.
Very nearly finished building a gate. A few more finishing touches, but this is basically it.

Just got to build the rose arch to go with it now.
