Tidied up the summer pots.
Dug up all the begonias for winter storage, I was delighted to find that the Bossa Nova begonias I'd grown from seed this year had formed little tubers.
Removed all the pepper plants. I was thinking about over-wintering some but I don't really have the space and still have seed left over.
Moved the agapanthus pots to a sheltered spot to keep dry.
Messed about for ages with Edward the Fergie trying to ge him started. I even took the inlet pipe off the carb to find there was no petrol getting to it. When the guy had delivered it and unbeknown to me he had turned the petrol tap of at the tank! Once turned back on the auld boy fired up immediately. It was a good job I sussed it as it was starting to lose battery power.
To charge it up again I had a bit of a drive around the street to check out the gears as well. I had forgotten how crap the brakes are on these things so I need to be careful. I reversed it on to my drive which is on quite an incline (so is the street!) so as a belt and braces job I chocked the wheels as well as parking in reverse.
Next plan is to take ihim on to some level-ish ground at the top or bottom of street and check the oils as well as giving him his winter doze of anti-freeze.
Filled a green bin with brambles, holly and other prickly things. Its the last collection of the year tomorrow.
Chopped, sorry pruned, the grapevine, jasmine and honeysuckle tangle on the shed.
Removed another tomato plant and thinned the rest in GH1.
Fed Mr Greedy and the worms.

Do I chop down and dig up the blousy begonia corms before they've been frosted and given up flowering?

Yes, I'd dig them up now, they don't like frost or a wet autumn. I cut off most of the foliage, leaving a short stump so it's easier to see each tuber to dig up. Brush off any compost, then I leave them wrapped loosely in a sheet of kitchen roll to dry off.
Labelled my dahlias while they still have recognisable flowers on (with descriptions like medium yellow as I only know a few of their names) then dug over a small piece of ground.
Too wet for outdoors so carried on packing up seeds swap seeds.

Ditto.
Drier today so was able to do a bit of weeding and chopping in the garden - not for long though as its too cold to hang around.
Retreated to the GH and took out another tomato plant and did a bit more leaf thinning.
Had a chat with the worms in the wormery which is in the GH near the Hotbin. Not sure whether they change places at night but there was a worm in the Hotbin too.
Collected seeds. Planted some more sweet peas that had started growing in the pod. Planted a chrysanthemum crazy daisy seed head , doing the same thing.
