I had Abbey National Shares (now Santander Bank) and one that ended up as Barclays shares - can't remember which BS that was!
I think Santander also took over Bradford & Bingley?
My Uncle used to have a Doberman on his smallholding which he would send out to collect eggs one at a time and carry them back unbroken to the house. Big Grin

I do remember Roy coming back with a hedgehog once though and his face was a bloody mess with the spines! Cry

Apart from dog walking (doing 15,583 steps) and some food shopping I aint done much today. I did buy my first ever 'Big Issue' magazine and was quite impressed with some of the interesting articles in it. Also what should have been a five minute job changing a brake light bulb, turned into a debacle until I realised the online firm I got the bulb from had sent the wrong one. Angry Luckily a neighbour had a spare correct bulb for the job so I managed to get sorted in the end. Cool
Good day, G an'G.Smile
I've been out and about this morning picking up freebies. The highlight - a bag of sourdough loaves, buns and doughnuts from a local sourdough bakery https://www.alexgoochbaker.com/story. A local lady picks up the surplus bread and shares it out. I have a large seeded loaf, small round loaf, 10 burger buns baps, 4 small ciabatta and 5 doughnuts. The car smelled amazing as I came home. I was tempted to eat some immediately.
However, I had another collection to make - 10 gardening books! I only wanted 2 of them but I'll reoffer the remainder. They're mostly about Garden Planning and Design and that's not for me. Smile

BTW. £110 in 1995 = £246.54 in 2021. Bren & JJB were closest - the rest of you are extreme optimists or pessimists. Big Grin
I got to thinking afterwards that one of my current bank accounts is zero interest so thought you may have the same amount you put in Veggie. Rolleyes Over a fiver a year if my maths is right is better than a kick in the backside Smile

Had dog out, had my one meal for today (Full English) and now just chilling for a short while to let my food settle. Soon I will be off to allotment where I have some digging, weeding, cardboarding and mulching to do. Fishing at Kielder reservoir on Monday so will try and gather a few worms while I am at it. Cool

Have a good afternoon all! Big Grin

Another wildlife tale from the garden - one I would prefer not to tell.
Spud just caught a baby squirrel! He wouldn't give it up, every time I tried to take it he'd try to swallow it!
My final ploy involved a bucket and a mangetout pea pod! Whilst I stood on the now very dead squirrel's body, Spud had to choose between the squirrel or the mangetout. WE had a tug-of-war while he tried to swallow the squirrel, realised he couldn't and chose the mangetout instead. Meanwhile, I covered the squirrel with a bucket as I didn't want to touch it. It was only then that I realised that its tail was missing and I can guess where it went!
Dogs can be horrible creatures at times but I'm trying to reconcile this with my dislike for squirrels when they pinch the fruit.
Guess who had a baby squirrel today?  Ted............and he ate it, all of it.  Sick
However, since it had only part of a tail I think it was the one Spud caught on Monday! I threw that one over the back fence into the brambles, hoping that a creature of some sort would come along and eat it. Unfortunately, that creature was Ted who must have climbed over the wire fence. He lay down, very deliberately, in front of Spud and ate it - Spud was not impressed.
These dogs of yours Veggie, what happened to the sweet little puppies they were?!!
I think they ate them. Big Grin
Evening All .Big Grin
Today I was chopping back the brambles behind GH No 3, between the GH and next door's house wall. Needless to say the dogs came to help. Ted was snuffling around behind the bushes, then I heard crunching noisestt and smelt something obnoxious. Was it a dead bird or rat or what? Ted wouldn't stop eating it, whatever it was.
Then Bess arrived and nosed her way in but instead of crunching, she carried something out in her mouth.
Hastily, I ran round to the kitchen door to make sure she couldn't take it into the house but she lay down outside and put her "trophy" on the mat. Then she ate it!! Fortunately, it didn't have the rotten smell of whatever Ted had eaten.

Any ideas what it might have been? Big Grin
Up early this morning, going fishing! Cool
