Then you would have been the winner, Jay!!
Of the 37 books, I already had 2. Of the 35 left about a third I will read with interest, another third I'll dip into and the remainder will be given away.
They include "How to knit" and "Stencilling & Other Paint Techniques". Boss, you were so close!!
I may start reading "How to be Assertive" if only I could tell myself to do so!!
Not only am I the proud owner of 37 random books, but I've been given spuds, onions, tomatoes, rhubarb, courgettes and a marrow the size of a dolphin!
These aren't your ordinary veg, these are the equivalent of M&S veg grown by a friend in his first year of having an allotment.
These are his spuds - I've never grown a single potato this size, let alone a bucket full. I'm told there are King Edwards beneath the red ones and they were grown from supermarket spuds.

This bucket is too heavy for me to lift; there's so much rhubarb that I have to wrap my arms around the bundle of sticks. He says he's picking 40+ tomatoes daily and they're a decent size too.
The bizarre thing is - he doesn't eat much veg so I'm not sure why he grows so much. Still, his loss is my gain and I'm not letting jealousy affect me............much.
Aww and there’s wee Spud next to the spuds!
Fine looking bucket of spuds there VC
I had the smallest spud on top of the bucket, as a jacket tonight. It pains me to say it - but it was perfect. No spots, blemishes, holes! Must just be beginner's luck. I bet he can't grow the same size spuds next year.
Morning all
One of my jobs for today is to try and restore some paintwork on my black car doors. I woke up one morning to find both my passenger side doors scratched in numerous places. I have come to the conclusion that one of the local cats had seen its reflection in the doors and had a right old go at what it thought was an adversary!
I have tried polishing scratches out to no avail so have purchased some T Cut scratch remover (for all shades of black)

Veggie that's your plan for the dolphin sized marrow.
I'm going to put a sail on its back, take it to the beach and let it swim free.
..........or I might just stuff it................but that sounds painful.................so I might chunk it up into soup................or I'm open to suggestions.
More wildlife tales! The dogs just rushed across the patio and Spud returned with a hedgehog in his mouth!! I think its OK - its just sitting outside at the moment ..............Oh no its not!!! Its moved off somewhere but the dogs are frantic to go out again. They usually just stare at hedgehogs, maybe paw them but never seen them pick one up before. Hope it has the sense to go through the gate where the dogs can't reach it.
