Congratulations Jay. We both deserve a long service medal, but it really doesn't seem that long ago we were walking down the aisle.   Time flies when you're having fun.
Evening all.

I finally got my runner beans planted out today but they were getting battered by the wind! I now have two double glazing units in front of them to try and protect them until they get established.
Managed to figure out the lengthy process of getting water to he plot. As you can imagine everyone was after water and with one tap for thirty allotments I couldn't hog it for too long. It took half an hour to fill up my IBC tank which was half full anyway and then I felt I had to give hose to other plot holders.
I did whatever watering I needed from the IBC tank water.

Pleased to see that some of my parsnips are finally making an appearance. The old saying that they go twice to the Devil and back before germinating is just about right.
A few of my spring cabbage are starting to heart up so looking forward to eating them. I love the dark green outer leaves so may just break some of those off for a mid -week supper treat. Steamed with butter and pepper.

Going to hand in my keys from the Scrapheap Challenge plot tomorrow so I will try to fit whatever I can into the car before departing for good. Undecided

Try Winter Jewel, they are a leafy cabbage that do not develop a heart but lads of green leaves, lovely taste lots of iron. Lovely with spuds and salty butter

Congratulations JJB and Paul, my wife and I celebrate 40 years this Christmas. We got married on the 20th December in 1980 when we were both 20 so we both celebrate 60 years old this year and 40 years married. Wife was 60 last week, I will be 60 in October

Synchronicity  personified Can, well done both to you and your wife for 40yrs wed and happy birthday to your wife.  Our wedding anniversary never really gets the recognition it deserves as OH and I had been living together for some time beforehand, so its 39 going  on 45.  I'm really excited this year I actually get my state pension after having it delayed several  times.  All the more dosh to spend on the garden.
Morning All

Another lovely day Smile No prizes for guessing what I shall be up to.....now have a 4th plot Cool

Have a super enjoyable Sunday
Morning, I’m guessing it’s another lovely day out there but I don’t know as I’m still in bed!!! I know bad me but hey why worry right?!!
I feel tired out just reading what everyone has been up to, feel a bit lazy too...well just a bit!
Smile
Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe. x
Happy Sunny Sunday. Smile

Congratulations to all those celebrating anniversaries. Just wondering what happened in 1980/81 to trigger these weddings of "gardeners" who meet up 39 years later on a gardening forum. Plenty of scope there for a novel/film. Shame I can't write!

Meanwhile, Greenleaves continues his plan to be the sole allotmenteer on his site , 4 down and only a few more to go.

Need to spend today catching up on the outstanding jobs on my list for the week. I'd be so embarrassed if I failed in Week 1.  Blush

Enjoy your day, whatever you're doing.
Afternoon had a good day here mostly spent in the garden. Only gardening today was early morning watering and harvesting.
Had a lazy day reading Smile
