It's the alphabetical order of the letters. All the others go middle-first-last, but SOP goes last-first-middle.

The Official Answer is "SOP. In the others, the consonants are next but one to each other in the alphabet.!

What is unusual about the following letters -

FHLMNORSX
I cheated and know full well I'd have not got the answer in a million years. I'm sure some of you clever types might.
My guess: they are the only letters that don't appear in something famous (like the Declaration of Independence), but what the something is, I don't know!

Think of the sound of the letters, or more appropriately, think of the sound of the letters they're not.

Okay, I think I may have it. Though my answer is difficult to describe or hint at! And still might be wrong...
I Googled it too. I was not correct! However, I do think my answer may still be a valid one, even if it's not the "right" one.
If JJB's clue is right, then I've got it
