Which word is the odd one out?

My guess is vex, all the others spell a new word backwards

I reckon it's SOP (I'll tell you why if I'm right)

I agree with JJB, it's SOP, although the boss's idea is valid too.

Listen very carefully,  I shall say this only once.....

In each set of three letters the first and last are in order alphabetically with one letter missing, i.e  A-C, B-D, C-E (I'm sure someone else can put this more coherently )
