I hate to use bad language but it’s………………..mathematics    Big Grin .

you work out your surface area. Then you can work out how many boards you need.  Because you already know how wide they are and how much of an overlap is needed. Then the tricky bit is working out how many boards you’ll get out of a log. You can have a fairly good guesstimate.
All perfectly simple  Wink  .

we got 22 boards at 4m long out of our first log.
Proper homesteader now SC Smile
Brilliant, SC. Must be so satisfying. Do the logs or boards need to be seasoned before using them for cladding?

Congrats SC it must be very satisfying, me I've sat for hours watching them mill at the woodland festival.
Spent yesterday afternoon moving timber. Spent today milling it and stacking it onto the trailer.

That is just brilliant SC Smile
Really exciting SC, I bet the smell is wonderful and think what you can do with all those woodchips
More milling has been occurring while I’ve been working Friday & Saturday. It’s now getting stacked on site.
