Hi Bren

When do you harvest your JA's?

Usually after the first frost  Danny,  but I have dug up a few before if i've run out of frozen ones,   I've still got a bag full in the freezer from March so I might not need to this year.
Thanks Bren
Danny I find they don't keep very long so its best to dig them up as you need them.
I've pulled up a trug full of Teasels from between the GH and garden wall, didn't re-home them as we have lots behind the garage, with even more on the land behind our garden.
Harvested my first two windowsill tomatoes today. Delicious!
Made my first Kale crisps.
I set up a separate raised bed for my blueberries, I put about 1/2 tonne of ericaeous compost with about 2 kg of coffee grinds and a good feed of granular seaweed fertiliser.

I have one more blueberry Bush to add but it’s still fruiting and is Nader nets to stop the birds getting them. I will add it later in the season.

Nice one Can

I'm doing the same tomorrow.
Today we've replace the outside lights with LED ones, fed toms, cuc, courgettes and aubergines with comfrey tea. Then made more courgette pickle.

I wasn't to keen on Kale crisps so won't be making any more of those.
Yesterday, the first chance to spend a whole afternoon in the garden for a couple of weeks.
Turned all the compost heaps.
Cut down and removed the so-called artichokes I sowed last year and planted out this. Some kind of cardoon I think, as the plants made 2-2.5m, had stunning purple flowers that came from totally inedible (we tried) spikey heads. Looked spectacular but took a pruning saw to cut them down!!
Cleared and composted the comfrey thicket. Weeded two of the veg beds and planted out some lettuce, beetroot and parsley plants.
Cut back some of the leaves on the pumpkins.
Deadheaded roses and dahlias.
Weeded out all the shrubs/plants in pots in the nursery.
Cleared all the dead leaves/rose petals from the deck.
Stirred compost, started to collect drying bijou pea pods drying on the vine in an attempt to clear the pea space.
Potted on what will be my winter lettuce, just waiting for the corn salad to get true leaves.
