Just finished watering all the pots and hanging baskets and gave the greenhouse a good spray, reached 40 degrees in there yesterday afternoon even with everything open. Some tomatoes ready to pick and came across hundreds of black currants amongst the nettles, a bit Labour intensive but delicious had some with my muesli thIs morning.
Yesterday was more chilli feeding, tying up tomatoes. Taking mini net tunnels off the brassicas that have now grown to big for them. Filling the dehydrator with chillies.

Today will be making power. Tell you the rest later, because I don’t know.
Yesterday I cut the lawn (again) Why oh why did I fertilise it? Huh Upside is that I have plenty of grass cuttings to utilise at the allotment. Big Grin

The tomato plants were getting congested with leaves near the bottom making it awkward to water them. Stripped off the bottom leaves and 'armpitted' them when I was on. Shy
Blight warning so I sprayed the spuds in the garden then earthed up with FYM and soil.
Sprayed the potatoes and tomatoes in the poly tunnel against blight.
Watered all the other plants, and then potted some seedlings for a friend of mine who only has a tiny back yard but I showed her how she could grow some fresh veg. I have curly kale and cauliflower in separate pots that they should be able to grow in, 2 turnips (swede), thyme, scallions, beetroot and lettuce I’m also giving her a sweet basil and a Thai basil.
Mid thirties today so just watered the recent plantings this morning before the sun hit them, although there's some sun scorch on a few leaves, so not early enough.
Today, a non-allotment day, we ran over to the plot before dinner to harvest our first Charlottes. The yield was not great (but then it's been dry and the plants did get frosted after getting 8 inches above ground), but they were delicious. Delicious. Mm.
Planted up a courgette, pollinated chillies, earthed up spuds.
I was on (horribly busy) long days Monday and Tuesday, getting home after dark. I then got home at a more reasonable time today but just collapsed in a little hot heap. It's no fun wearing a face mask at all times in work when it's this hot. This means I have done no watering during these three incredibly hot days. I must try and get out in the garden after work tomorrow, as the weekend's downpour won't be enough to stop my pots from all drying out.
Up early to beat the heat. Watered polytunnel and greenhouses, fed onions, sweetcorn, sweetpeas and cougettes. to pick raspberries, gooseberries and redcurrants when it is a bit cooler and weed round the greenhouses.
Refurbished the allotment cats new home
