Strimming and cutting thistle, docks and ragweed. Also repaired any of the privets that got lashed with the strimmer. The BBQ a couple of sirloins
Cleared onion bed, planted out a few modules of beetroot, spinach and chard in a cleared onion bed. Tidied up shallots and garlic that have dried off. Cut down fruited raspberries and found new canes may have a disease or blight. Not much to be done about that though I fear.
Did a bit of watering but it is beginning to get desperate with mature trees and shrubs starting to shrivel.
Nothing apart from watering the veggies it was just too hot, 36+C.The flower beds will have to fend for themselves we are desperate for rain.
Swapped a leaking seal on the toilet inlet. Watered the Veggie garden, picked blackberries and made a pie with enough spare in the freezer to make another.
Relaxed it was hot and muggy.
Watered, harvested, ripped out bolting kale & Swiss chard
Fed chillies, aubergines, peppers, tomatoes and melons with comfrey tea.
Cleared some haricots, added compost and planted January king cabbage and red russian kale. Planted out some Thai basil.
Happily dodged the thunderstorms Smile
Weeded and watered my GH, picked apples and blackberries to make fruit leathers filled the dehydrator then we went out for a stroll Smile
My wife went to pick the damsons in our hedgerow but could only reach a handful as the rest had walked. I went out with a ladder and came back with a few kilos and was rewarded with a damson and apple (katy) sponge for tea - after the last of the shepherdess pie served with chips.

Picked some dried peas. Keeping separate all pods with 10+ seeds in for next year and rest will go in air tight jars when finished drying. Also several kg of toms.
Worried it might rain overnight, I moved my onion hammock into the greenhouse. I feel happy they’ll stay dry now.
