One job so far: taking cuttings off my African Blue Basil. When I tried to overwinter the parent, it died on me. Last year's cuttings all survived bar one.

Is that on a new hedge or an old mature one??

we planted one 18months ago. It's grown well...not sure if I should have put roses in as they are so vigorous. But I'm wondering what to do now. I can't find great advice. Brother say lay it next year.
Just picked more toms -
2K ice cream tubbfull and several in my pockets! Just making passata sauce. Checked on my seedlings and found one cucumber and a courgette.

It is hard to describe, but it is ten year's worth of scrubby growth along the edge of a field ditch with a wood beyond - we simply cut the grass up to it and left nature to do what she liked. It is a mixture of ash, hazel, blackthorn, oak, willow (goat and ordinary), birch plus the roses and brambles. Up to this year we've just cut everything off at about shoulder height, but where a few trees have fallen through it had big gaps that the deer jumped through. We thought we'd try cutting and laying to fill the gaps and then decided to do the whole length. When the rain (hurrah!) stops I'll take some photos.
Autumn has arrived with torrential rain, gales and the temperature in free fall so I have been picking tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, chillies and aubergines in case it gets colder than the current 7 degrees (it was 33 on Wednesday)! We have a vase full of sunflowers after the plants were uprooted and I've been running around bringing in the house plants who spend their summer outside!! But with 30mm of rain since midnight I'm happy Smile
Making courgette and turkey burgers. The turkey mince was still frozen so while it defrosted I paid a visit to the allotment. Harvested chillies, courgettes and tomatoes. Dug up about six potato plants which gave me a large carrier bag of large potatoes.I then dug over the area again to make sure I hadn't missed any.
I also cut a small cabbage and ate a sweetcorn while I was there.

Burgers are cooking now and have the house stinking of garlic, hope I haven't overdid it.
I’ve not been keeping up to date on here.
I’ve been quite busy the last week.
Little tunnel is now shut down for the winter. Just one tub of carrots left and drying onions in there.
Emptied all my spud bags. Washed ready for going away.
Some of the chillies have been harvested for the last time & composters. Lots of others have been reduced in size. Sweet peppers had the same treatment in the other tunnel. Reduced some of the growing tips on spaghetti squash and removed leaves around the squash so they have more chance of ripening. A few more courgettes have been pulled up.
Starting taking down a hedge Cool  .
Think I’m all caught up with what I’ve been doing.
Just made some tomato soup to take out on my dog walk. Weather is gorgeous - blue sky but super cold strong wind.

But I am going to have a picnic Smile

Have brought in some seedlings to pot on when I get home. Smile
Got my flu jab this morning, did a bit of shopping then made some tomato and sultana chutney.Going to make a corned beef and potato and a ham and egg pie next today. Smile
Making lists! My mother finally has a moving date and with Covid quarantine rules that means leaving here next week and not coming back until the end of the month so I need to work out just what I can & can't do this week and cross reference that with what I must do!!
Picked chillies, peppers and tomatoes and made a batch of chilli.
Placed a seed order to be delivered to the UK.
Picked and composted two marrows that have appeared from nowhere.
Sorted out the preserves cupboard.
