Whilst I can't and don't want to, live without money, I can live with less. I've acquired a lot of useful stuff recently on the freebie site - and given quite a bit of "clutter" away too and that has shown me how many usable things are given away, because they've been bought on a whim, maybe?. No more impulse buying for me.

My cupboards and freezer are full of food; if the shops all closed tomorrow, I could survive for months. Also, if I tried harder I could grow a lot more food.

Say Hello to "The Moneyless Chicken" (MC). MC's plan is to buy only food that has been reduced in price (apart from a few staples that are never remaindered like coffee, sugar, butter and dog food). 
MC will not buy any clothes or toiletries in 2022 (I have a stockpile of both). Don't worry, I'll still smell sweet. Books will be exchanged or preloved. Seeds will be swapped, saved or bought from ethical seed producers. I'll eat more of whatever I grow and grow more of whatever I eat.

As far as possible, I'm going to avoid buying anything if I already have something similar that is edible/usable/wearable/growable. 
By the end 2022, I hope to have less clutter, less food past its date and an easier conscience.

New thread for a new year of Doing!

Welcome to 2022.
Hope we all have a happy healthy year with lots of gardening.  We can leave the pests and weeds in 2021.

I need new shoes for the garden. My previous pairs have been the lad's old leather school shoes, but he's now got size 13 feet and is 33, so you can imagine how old his cast offs were. Then I bought some cheap boys school shoes which didn't last a season.  The new ones need to be easy to get on and off, waterproof or near enough and comfortable and preferably durable and cheap!

I wondered about some wellie shoes or some 'chelsea' boot type of wellies. Normal high topped wellies are out, no room in the porch.
Any suggestions? Anyone a fan of wellie shoes?

Just responded to Broadway in the heat mat thread..... now I love a bargain. But the thought of making a heated bench from scratch really fried my brain.  even if getting the bits in opposed to buying it would have saved me quite a few pounds.

I have loads of sweet peas on the go....my brain is in overload thinking about the frame. I need a super tall one!The thought of building one is horrible.

I'm not lazy - but I am let down by lack of DIY enthusiasm..to be honest I feel a bit scared when I have to build something. 

Anyone else just like the plants and can't be bothered about the frames and paths! I've a mudbath to slip through before getting to my greenhouse doors at the moment!! ......I bought a load of second hand slabs of FB 6 months ago and they are just stacked on the side who's laid a patio?

Was thinking of getting one so just wondered what your thoughts/experiences were?

I could get a heated prop but thought the mat may be a bit more flexible?
