2022- Beans List - Veggie - 29-03-2022 Which beans are you growing in 2022? Broad, French, Runner..............whatever! Please tell us how the grow for you and whether you'll grow them again. Photos welcome, of course. RE: 2022- Beans List - Broadway - 29-03-2022 Broad Beans - Witkiem Runner Beans - Greek Gigantes/Moonlight Climbing French Beans - Cobra RE: 2022- Beans List - Small chilli - 29-03-2022 I’ll be growing Runner beans don’t know which variety yet climbing french beans trenejavec climbing french beans meuch climbing french beans Kew blue climbing french beans Cherokee trail of tears This lot because I can plant and let them get on with it and harvest all in one go at the end of the season for drying. No dwarf french beans this year because they live in the tunnel so need watering. RE: 2022- Beans List - JJB - 29-03-2022 Broad beans - masterpiece saved seed CFB still dithering. Definitely Hunter, Fasold and one or two others for eating green. Meuch, Coco Blanc a Rames and possibly one other for drying. Although Cherokee Trail of Tears was incredibly prolific the dried beans take a whole hour to soften in the pressure cooker, so much longer than others. So cooked mixed beans didn't work, the CToT would be just cooked but other beans were mush. So might give CToT a miss. Might not bother with DFB. May change my mind. RE: 2022- Beans List - Mark_Riga - 29-03-2022 I will be sowing my climbing beans soissons soon as they take quite a long time to mature and I grow them for drying. I also grow a small podded dwarf bean (been growing for years) for eating fresh and a larger seeded one I acquired from a supermarket in France about 2014 for drying. No idea on their varieties though - just big uns and little ones. Same with broad beans just grow for drying and use mainly in hummus - just 10 to 12 minute simmer for these but need skinning before cooking. They should be high in protein as well - the Hodmedods fava bean flour says it is 26% protein. RE: 2022- Beans List - Veggie - 29-03-2022 Broad beans - Aquadulce and Wizard Field beans in the ground now. Also chitting some old broad beans - Sutton, Bunyard's Exhibition and some mystery ones in a bag labelled "Moroccan". If they germinate, I'll grow these too. DFB - Marconi in the GH now. Abundance & B&B in the prop now. Undecided what else yet. CFB - Neckargold (for seed saving), Haven't decided what else. Runner - ?? RE: 2022- Beans List - Vinny - 30-03-2022 Gigantes runner beans for me and Tendergreen dwarf French beans as they are well named and suit my taste . Plenty of time to sow both though. RE: 2022- Beans List - Farendwoman - 30-03-2022 Runner Beans - Celebration and Tenderstar Climbing French Beans - Purple Podded Don’t like broad beans, so don’t grow those.
