  Cold frame advice
Posted by: Small chilli - 02-03-2021, 09:46 AM - Replies (15)

A friend has asked me where’s the best place to buy a cold frame. So I’m asking you lot  Big Grin . She is well aware you can make one quite simply. She is also quite aware it won’t happen until August waiting for her husband to make it. If she’s lucky it’ll be this August  Wink . So she would rather just buy one.  Anyway I’m fairly clueless when it comes to using & buying such things. Recommendations for where to look / buy, thank you.

Quick cover for short ish term
Posted by: Jimny14 - 28-02-2021, 11:37 AM - Replies (9)

Having layed the hedge and removed some unwanted plants we have a small patch of open ground that I want to plant something on. The area may not be available very long (a year or three) due to renovation plans. The hedge to the left is on the west(picture taken approx 10.30am). Our soil is slightly acid clay. I was thinking wild flowers but wonder if our soil may be a little too nutrient rich for some? Any thoughts on what to plant would be great thanks.

  Edible and ornamental Containers/pots

Is there a more attractive plant than Rainbow Chard?
Wouldn't it look good in a planter with nasturtiums and feathery carrot leaves? Maybe a few red and green leaved lettuces and some Beetroot leaves with dill or fennel.
The permutations are endless!!
In other words, I'll not be growing begonias, busy Lizzies or geraniums this year (unless they fall into my flower pots for no money) but filling the pots with beautiful edibles - that I may, or may not eat.

  What do you add

While boiling up potatoes today I wondered what I could add to them to make them more tasty, ofcourse there are the usual salt, pepper, brown sauce or red sauce, if it's mashed potato you can add butter or milk, but what else can be added to lift the taste of potatoes

  Plot Fence

Hello Folks

Some of you may remember I said part of the plot fence broke a while ago. You may also remember I said I was "borrowing" the plot therefore could, albeit doubtful, get hoiked off at any time.

With this in mind I don't want to spend a lot but would like some sort of boundary/fencing. I was thinking about the items below any wondered what people thought, don't hesitate to  tell me it's a stupid ideaSmileSmile

Question Dieting
Posted by: Vinny - 23-02-2021, 01:50 PM - Replies (168)

Can't find a thread for this so decided to start one. Tongue

I am sure a few of us must be dieting and just wondered which diet was being used and how people were getting along with it?

Started my diet yesterday. I have used low carb diets in the past to good effect. What enthused me the most was Tyson Fury losing 10 stone and returning to take the heavyweight crown. Cool

I am no Tyson Fury but I am obese (have been for the last 20 years) even though I class myself as quite healthy. I walk with dog for 1.5 hours each day and do all my caring responsibilities, housework, shopping, cooking and my favourite, washing dishes each day.

Yesterday I started my diet with a full English breakfast (no toast or fried bread of course) then fasted for the rest of the day apart from a bag of nuts.
Today I had four sausages and three scrambled eggs for brekky. Teatime will be chicken wings and kale.then fast aagain until morning. As you can see I am trying low carb and fasting, drinking loads of sugar free drinks as well.

Anyway, how are everyone else's diets going and what do they entail? Huh
