I’m being very nosy again! You’ll never guess why   
So what are your top 3 flowering plants? Why those ? Are they shrub, climber, annual, perennial? What size? How fast does it grow? How much care is needed? What conditions does it seem to like? 

I know I’ve done a similar thread a while ago “how do you choose “. The more I ask, the more you lot will teach me about plants. I need to learn fairly quickly. I’ve got a lot of ground to fill   . 

My top 3 
Lupin - I like these because lots of different colours, big bold shaped leaves & flower spikes. Perennial. Very little care needed. 
Sweet pea -I like these because lots of colours, beautifully scented. Annual. They seem quite happy just to do there own thing for the summer. 
Snapdragon -I like these because of childhood memories. lots of colours & sizes of these. Annual/ perennial? Some come back, some don’t . They seem happy they grow ( you see, I can’t answer my own questions properly    ). 
Think I’ve just worked out , I quite like not knowing what colour the flowers are until they open     .

I'm going on the NOMAD Diet
It stands for....Not One Meal A Day......... but, also a Nomad is someone who wanders from place to place, gathering food, they're Hunter gatherers and have no fixed abode. I feel like that, as I wander around the garden, picking and foraging. 
Now that spring has arrived, and there is more to "forage" I'm going to try finding some of my midday meal in the garden and eating it outdoors in my unfixed abode (the garden table).

Anyone else want to be a NOMAD?

Why, when Sparkling Spring Water goes flat does it taste horrible. Its only supposedly carbon dioxide and spring water so when it goes flat it should just be Spring water surely?

It will soon be potato and tomato planting season so why not combine the two in a single pot?

Plant a spud in the bottom of a MFB on 5cm of potting compost. Fill the pot up with compost and plant a tomato plant in the top. Harvest the toms throughout the season and at the end of the season tip the pot out and harvest the potatoes. Probably best with a late low growing maincrop spud methinks with a high phosphate fertiliser like bone meal added to compost.

I’m going to use this thread for thinking out loud about what I actually want ( how the hell do I know!   ). What is actually needed ( everything & a side order of miracles ). How I’m going to do it all . What plants? What materials ( paths, fencing, structures) ? What layout / configuration ? And all the things I’ve not yet considered ! 

I’m going to be adding photos , lists of plants , ideas, just everything.

I’d love your suggestions, help & advice along the way   .

I haven't kept chickens for a few years.
I have no neighbours that live nearby that keep chickens either.

Yesterday I found a chickens egg in the lawn buried by a tree. It looked like there was a little hole made for it and it had been revealed by strimming the grass in that area.

I was a bit curious and cracked it open - just to smell  as I couldn't believe it had laid there to rest for a few years. It was fresh!

So just this morning I'm clearing a patch of long grass and crap from an area where I want to put my sweet peas....and there's another one?!!

The leaves of my sweet peppers (Lipstick and Sweet Chocolate) and one of my chillies (Trinidad Perfume) are looking more chartreuse than green at the moment

I thought I would turn down my heated propagator to 20ºC and let them sit under the lights (currently on 16 hours a day) until the weather improves - does that sound sensible? My okra has germinated and I'm not holding my breath over the aubergines, so I don't need the propagator to be so hot any more.

Morning Folks

Following on from the recent  "Feeding garlic and onions" thread I wondered if people follow a regular feeding regime for all of their veg?

I still consider myself new to all this growing veg malarkey and to date my feeding has been haphazard.

My assumption is a monthly feed with whatever you can lay your hands on?

Do the likes of growmore/chicken pellets really need working in or can you just scatter and water?
