Ahh it's soul destroying isn't it when it goes so badly?
I was pondering getting a polytunnel for the garden, but we're quite exposed to the hills, and I worry that a polytunnel wouldn't be able to withstand the wind, unless I paid lots of money... so a solid greenhouse it is.

The greenhouse pictured was a solid greenhouse but putting the door facing the prevailing wind was something I thought at the time was asking for trouble!

Ah... hmm... I am about to put a greenhouse, a polycarbonate one, at 90 degrees away from the prevailing winds - will that be enough, do you think?

You can batten or glue the sheets in. My greenhouses are exposed - the old glass greenhouse will often get blown out/cracked panes. So poly may go to if it's exposed.

A friend on my old plot had a greenhouse with polycarbonate which he siliconed in as an added precaution.................it still finished up as a box kite!

Called in at plot this morning whilst walking Kato. Glad to see the garlic I planted has eventually decided to make an appearance

but the broad beans will need to be re-sown as the few that have survived the ravages of slugs and snails are pretty naff!

I sow mine in modules then plant then out when they are about 4inches, maybe an option?

I'll definitely do that, thank you Scarlet

haha oh gosh, I can see it happening! I'll do my best securing it lol
Squelched my way into the plot this morning to harvest some leeks. I lifted three large leeks with a trowel. Once I dug in and broke the roots I pulled the leeks out with a squelch leaving a pool of water where the poor sods had been!

I need to find some leek and onion recipes online as I have quite a few leeks and stored onions. Onion bhaji's sounds canny and I wonder what leek bhaji's would be like?

The garlic is starting to show above ground now but some of the Japanese onions I planted last year don't even seem to have grown at all? I have my spring onion sets ready to plant but will leave that until April.
Must take a few peppers off my overwintered chillies at home and see if I can salvage a few seeds. They need to be started asap. The toms can wait a while yet though as I sowed mine far too early last year. Once bitten, twice shy as the saying goes!
