Picked some apples ans a courgette then mowed the lawns. There were plenty of white roots on my African Basil cuttings when I checked them so they want potting up, probably tomorrow.
Work, seed collecting, dead heading, rock splitting.
Harvested, cut down blighted tomatoes, stirred top 6" of compost to stop the grass clippings matting. I found a tray of very sad neglected tagetes so planted them in gaps but I'm not hopeful they'll survive.
This morning I emptied the last couple of recycling boxes and buckets of Charlottes. This evening took down the pea frame and netting.
Made up a couple of jam jar posies for the barrow. Went out for lunch with friends. Rain stopped play on my rock splitting.
Boxed up cooled roast tomatoes and made yet more blackberry cheese/jam/coulis depending on how it's set.
Mostly a writer off because the weather wasn’t great. I managed to measure the cottage garden. Having trouble translating that onto paper.
Last week I pulled up some Verbena Bonariensis that had self seeded in the wrong place. I dropped them in a tub of water as I didn't have the heart to bin them. Today they had very healthy roots, growing out of the stems, as well as the roots. They have been planted in a better place.
Took Ted to the Vets this morning for his annual jab. Came home and cleared out 3 of the cucumber pots as the plants were past their best. Planted Bijou mangetout seedlings in their place - leaving the cucumber support canes for the peas.
A bit of tidying around cottage garden. Binning all the cr@p left in the latest caravan. Picked & shelled the last of the DFB. Now in the freezer. Cut the plants down and used the space for cuttings!
