Did a 65 mile round trip to take a damaged pigeon to a wildlife hospital.
He flew into daughters French window and had been sitting on the lawn looking miserable for a day and a half.
Our local vet offered to euthanise him for free (which I thought was a very kind offer) - but he was such a handsome specimen we thought he ought to be given a fighting chance of recovery. Hence the trip to Tewkesbury.
What a grand job these wildlife places do - they’ve got two hundred hedgehogs there at the moment not to mention all the other sick and recovering critters.
Fingers crossed that they get to mend the pigeon.
Bless you, FEW. Thanks for doing that. x
Actually I had a bit of an ulterior motive. Went to a funeral a couple of days ago and instead of a collection for charity, they asked that everyone should do a good deed in memory of the deceased. - A fabulous idea that was new to me - and which I shall repeat at my funeral.
The deceased would have liked the attempt to save the pigeon.
What a great idea! Also better than sending flowers that die within a few days.
Not much, bit of tidying at the plot plus picked 8 strawberry runners and planted them at home.
Attacked brambles, again! These were in the old, old chicken run (not the last old chicken run). Don't worry, I get confused too. Wink I have 2 forgotten wormery bins there and I was delighted to see some lovely worm compost in the bottom of each. So delighted that I gave them some greens for their supper. Also found 2 bags of maturing manure and a bin of wood chips. This is my compost corner!
Its been on and off rain here so haven't done much outdoors.
Called at allotment with Kato on his morning walk. The spring cabbage plants I planted under glass have been munched by summat so i lfted the glass  and spread a few slug pellets around, then replaced the glass.
I have a lot of seeds now half of which are flower seeds. I have a greenhouse at allotment needing repair but I am thinking of purchasing a small glass lean-to/coldframe for a sunny wall at home. Because of the proximity to the house I migh even add an electrical tube heater for when weather gets severe.

I would like it to be six foot wide six foot high two foot deep with shelves and a sliding door. It must be glass as plastic will blow away.

If anyone has something similar that they are pleased with if you could mention supplier I would be obliged! Cool
Planted the 40 red onions sets today, also picked another 8 strawberry runners and planted them at home.
Planted the Seven Sisters rose. And building stuff which doesn’t count because it’s not gardening.
