A peregrine falcon belting through the garden while I was counting birds. The song birds scattered unharmed but I don't think I can count it as it didn't land!

Often see them in the fields, but it’s unusual to see them so close

I love seeing them in the fields, but they are an absolute menace in my garden, eating all the new growth on my trees and shrubs. They're most partial to apple trees, roses and field maples. The woods and hedges are full of field maples so why are they eating mine?!! But beautiful all the same!

Today the sun has come out after four days of torrential rain - the ditches, streams and rivers will still roar with water for a few days before it becomes calm again.
Has Anyone Seen the Plot?

I’ve learned what a rocker is. I’ll be able to educate Bob and our foundations builder now. He looked very confused when we asked him what it was yesterday.

Different sort of rocker  Smile . I am one of those   Big Grin . Not so much head banging these days. Takes to long to recover from the whiplash  Confused . It’s not a chair either  Tongue  . It’s a type of pipe that allows for movement.

It's used in the Potteries as well: "It is said to find its origin in the Saxon word ‘ducas’ which was meant as a term of respect; similar to the Middle English ‘duc’, ‘duk’ which denotes a leader, commander; from which comes the title ‘Duke’ and the Old French word ‘ducheé’ - the territory ruled by a Duke.
