I finally qualified for my concessionary bus pass and it arrived in the post today. Tomorrow morning is a trip into town to christen it.

Catching up on Gardeners world and all sorts of gardening shows that I didn't know existed, recorded and found to be nowhere as good as they sounded lol

I found my very first romanesco this morning. 3 years it’s taken! 1st year they grew into cauliflower. 2nd year nothing grew more than a few leaves (but that was the same for most things) due to poor soil management. So finding this little beauty this morning has made me very happy.

I finally got my lavender low level hedge started. I have grown 36 lavender plants from seed, and potted them from modules to pots to harden them up. I only had one fatality. Today I managed to get 14 of them planted at the base of my fence then rain took over, hopefully I can get the remaining ones planted tomorrow.
Coffee keeps me busy until it’s acceptable to drink whiskey.

I furtled up my first few potatoes of 2020 (a mix of Winstons and Red Duke of York, I think) and my first ever grown in the ground! They are much bigger than I expected, especially the Winstons. I have just eaten a portion, boiled (skin on, in chunks) then mixed with salted butter and home grown mint. Delicious! I am leaving some to cool to combine with boiled eggs for potato salad later.
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!
