Serpent leeks - never grown these before! Fascinating things - as they're about to flower, the heads rear up like serpents about to strike.
Quite rare, it seems. Smile

The Serpent leeks are still alive and growing - despite being out of the ground and not watered for over a month.

At the base of the leek the baby serpent eggs are growing, each of these will hatch and grow into another Serpent leek.

The flowers are attracting bees and hoverflies, maybe there'll be some serpent seeds too. Big Grin

I  put mine in the compost heap and they were buried under other compost material. They still managed to rear there heads through the rest of the compost. Cry

If there not Musselburgh then I don’t have them   Wink .  I think you should just change their name to serpent leeks officially. Big seed companies do it all the time. Don’t see why you can’t  Big Grin .

Not sure what their original name was - maybe Bleu de solaise from Real seeds?
I've created Serpents from all sorts of leeks - its a simple technique, perfect for the lazy and forgetful gardener. Smile
