Serpent leeks - Veggie - 21-06-2021 [attachment=3180] Serpent leeks - never grown these before! Fascinating things - as they're about to flower, the heads rear up like serpents about to strike. Quite rare, it seems. RE: Serpent leeks - Vinny - 21-06-2021 If you say so veggie! I'm with Indiana Jones on this one...........I HATE snakes! RE: Serpent leeks - Veggie - 21-07-2021 [attachment=3536] The Serpent leeks are still alive and growing - despite being out of the ground and not watered for over a month. [attachment=3537] At the base of the leek the baby serpent eggs are growing, each of these will hatch and grow into another Serpent leek. [attachment=3538] The flowers are attracting bees and hoverflies, maybe there'll be some serpent seeds too. RE: Serpent leeks - Vinny - 21-07-2021 I put mine in the compost heap and they were buried under other compost material. They still managed to rear there heads through the rest of the compost. RE: Serpent leeks - Veggie - 21-07-2021 They like somewhere warm to hatch. RE: Serpent leeks - Small chilli - 22-07-2021 If you get enough serpent leek seeds to share. I’d be very happy to find some in my seed swap collection . RE: Serpent leeks - Veggie - 22-07-2021 You probably have some already. I think you should just change their name to serpent leeks officially. Big seed companies do it all the time. Don’t see why you can’t . RE: Serpent leeks - Veggie - 22-07-2021 Not sure what their original name was - maybe Bleu de solaise from Real seeds? I've created Serpents from all sorts of leeks - its a simple technique, perfect for the lazy and forgetful gardener.
