Did you know..........
"FLOWER: : The nasturtium is a very interesting flower/plant. Nasturtiums are late bloomers that are usually orange or reddish in color. They are perfect for the fall. The leaves and flowers, when cooked, are used to treat infections, colds, flu and digestive issues. The nasturtium is not a very well known flower, so when your spouse asks what kind of flower it is, you can explain that it is the traditional 40th wedding anniversary flower. He or she will be impressed that you have done your homework."

Whoever wrote that couldn't have been much of a gardener!!
It's a bit of a bummer that I've never managed to grow a nasturtium successfully !

A huge glow worm larva.
A medium-sized slow worm.
A teeny weeny grass snake, about the size of a pencil, curled up and cute (sorry, Chris Packham) on a lilly pad! (Why do we call them pads rather than leaves ?

Three sacks of horse manure and 6 duck eggs delivered this morning in return for tomato and various veg plants and surplus seeds. Bartering is alive and well in Salisbury.

All the thunderstorms missed us, but we had 3.5mm of rain anyway. One empty water butt a third refilled.

Had a nice chat with the domestic in the hospital accommodation about my windowsill gardening. She says she always likes to have a nosey at what I have growing when she comes in the flat. She fancies giving it a go herself Always good to get a convert!
