Yesterday - found a box of broad beans in the freezer - old beans with thick skins, so I thawed them out and popped them out of their skins.
Cooked some penne pasta, threw in the beans and the remaining leftovers of cooked red cabbage and stirred it all together. Added some chunks of cheese, which melted and it was very tasty!!
Today, I've dug up a clump of 3 cornered leeks (allium triquetrum) and chopped some into an omelette for lunch.
Tonight, I'll add the remaining leeks to last night's leftovers - sorted.

Gunna try and make home made rice pudding like me Ma used to make. Got a recipe off the net but it seems like a heck of a lot of milk to soak up with so few grains of rice? I'll try it in 3/4 of an hour and give it a stir. Another 3/4 to 1 hour after that and it should be done....fingers crossed.

Coffee keeps me busy until it’s acceptable to drink whiskey.

We had roast stuffed pork loin, roast potatoes, curly kale, and a couple of Yorkie puds with savoury gravy and apple sauce.

The holiday cottage we used to stay in before we moved up here always had one of the freezer drawers full of different venison cuts. Help yourself to what you wanted and put the money in a honesty box on top of the fridge. It was great.

The holiday cottage we used to stay in before we moved up here always had one of the freezer drawers full of different venison cuts. Help yourself to what you wanted and put the money in a honesty box on top of the fridge. It was great. I used to work on a sports ground and found a dead deer which had got its leg trapped while trying to clear the fence. It must have thrashed and had a heart attack as it was dead but still warm when I got there. My old boss who was a gamekeeper helped me string it up in the garage and we butchered it. He only wanted some venison liver in recompense for his assistance, and after I had tasted it, I could understand why.
We lived like kings for a long time after that.
