I emptied an MFB of carrots sown last summer and kept neglected in the GH, not really knowing whether they were going to be any good. Although I had sown rather thickly so the roots were slender, they tasted amazing. Sweet and very carrot. I have another to empty which I might save for a treat. Definitely to be repeated. Might even do some now to beat the early ones in the ground.

Leeks - they're getting crinkled inside so are going to bolt soon - and purple sprouting broccoli - white aphids have arrived. Still a good haul
First coriander leaves yesterday.

I thinned my November-sown salad today - lamb's lettuce, Winter Density, tatsoi, mizuna, mustard - and saved the thinnings as a portion of "micro-greens". You pay a fortune for that stuff in the shops, and it would only be thrown away otherwise. The remaining plants are still tiny, but they have space now to put on some serious growth once we have decent day-length again!
How much veg and wildlife can I pack into a 6m x 8m garden in suburban Cambridge? Let’s find out!

They’re growing in the ground Danny behind the shed, between my permanent bean row and the garden wall.

They’re growing in the ground Danny behind the shed, between my permanent bean row and the garden wall. OK I've ordered some 30ltr pots/buckets for mine, for this year at least. I want to get them in next week but fear I don't have enough soil/compost as yet. Do you think I could I cover them and top/earth up as they appear?

And some lettuce, flat leaved parsley & beetroot.
