Thanks veggie. It’s good to put a name to things.
Check out his photos on FB. https://www.facebook.com/PhytoGeek He puts some great posts up, really detailed info - even better for me as he's local.
Not the most attractive side of nature, but incredibly fascinating.

I’m thinking barn owl, but it could be tawny.
Fascinating find!
I took a local Naturalist, Mary Gillham https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Gillham out to Flat Holm island years ago. Nothing to do with her age, but It was impossible for Mary to walk fast as she spent all her time looking at the ground, to see what she could find. She loved pellets! She'd pick them up and stash them in a matchbox in her pocket, explaining, as she did so - that's the case of a summat beetle or the wing/bone of a ???? She'd take them home and analyse the contents to find out what lived locally.
Amazing lady, sadly no longer with us.
What a fascinating lady. I offered pull the pellets apart to see what the owls been eating. But not with nearly as much knowledge as Mary Gillham
first casualty of the snow and freezing cold
