No, these are an annual mallow, lavatera trimestris? I had trouble germinating them last year... thought it would be better from my own saved seed? Maybe I should try fridge first anyway?
In that case, the website I use for germination information says it should take 5-10 days at 22 Celcius, no cold required.
Really useful website as the instructions on seed packets can often be wrong about germination conditions -

The foliage on that sea holly stays very close to the ground, it's only the flower stalks which are tall but they're also very thin so don't cast much shade. The colour of the stems on mine right now is fantastic, like a metallic blue/purple.
That's what I was hoping.... I've sown some white. I have some blue ones here from seed - You put in the swap? Also have some more caradonna on the go from your seed....come in handy these seed swaps 
Yep, Eryngium planum. There's another variety called 'Big Blue' which looks like it has much bigger cones. I also have a little Blue Hobbit which I am trying to propagate, it's really cute but probably not much good for cut flowers.
My blue hobbit is about 8 inches tall I bought it by mistake and keep trying to remember to oik it out. No good for cutting whatsoever.

That's a useful link, thank you. My go to is usually Chilterns... but disappointed in these lavetera seeds. It's always the ones you want!

They are so easy from seed. It's worth putting a few in now and overwintering in the Greenhouse. I've found the white ones much trickier to germinate that the blue ones.

Picking every day means that I just have to go with colour/blooms that are perfect to pick. I've not deadheaded any dahlia yet - I've used every single bloom.
When you've researched September flowering whatever, could you share wit us (me)? I think every year I've got to find something to brighten up the borders at this time of year apart from sedum.
For the garden you can't beat snap dragons - if yo don't get the extra tall F1s for cutting, there's loads in a pack and much shorter so are perfect for garden colour. Scabious? Mine are still going. Cosmos is a fab late summer option, first time for straw flowers for me this year but I would recommend.

The snap dragons here are tetra ruffled giants...they didn't get that big here as it's been too dry. I didn't stake, these are just in the garden so no use for picking. Ran out of space in the spring. I always grow scabious for late summer colour.

Perennials that I have now would be penstemons and japanese anemones.
What I forgot to add and which has been brilliant for cutting this year is Rudbeckia Sahara. Not many in apack of seeds but they are a really gorgeous colours - coppers, dirty pinks :} not quite sure how to describe! burgandys and are mixed. They are double petals... ....you may be able to spot them in the flower bunch photos I posted earier.
....what happened to your dahlias?
