Must admit when we first started coming to "what is now our home" I was firstly amazed by someone saying hello as you walked along but to then call me "duck" was very strange to a lad from Tottenham SmileSmile

And Duck means gawd knows what in Derby! Rolleyes

It's used in the Potteries as well: "It is said to find its origin in the Saxon word ‘ducas’ which was meant as a term of respect; similar to the Middle English ‘duc’, ‘duk’ which denotes a leader, commander; from which comes the title ‘Duke’ and the Old French word ‘ducheé’ - the territory ruled by a Duke.

From these origins it became a greeting and then a term of endearment."

The new septic tank was connected up today. The only downside is because the ground is so soft, quite an area has been really churned up. i'm hoping it can be reasonably levelled off tomorrow.
While having slight mechanical issues today I found an old ( probably iron bru ) bottle on the shoreline. Fully intact and with its lid. After some research when we got home. It looks like it’s around 100 years old. Very happy with that find.
Congratulations on you find Sc, but sadly they no longer pay back the deposit on ginger bottles nowadaysRolleyes

Congratulations Spec but don’t ease up on your guard, keep washing your hands and avoiding people outside your bubble they say it can take something like 9 days for it to become effective.
