Escholzia californica - Carmine King
Nigella - Miss Jekyll
Cornflower - Black Ball

Sowed some of each in one of my new seedtrays - a 40 module one so that I could sow 8 modules of each flower. I have more seeds left in the packets but I'll wait for cooler weather and, hopefully, some rain. Also gives me time to decide where to sow them!

Sown my £30 worth  Big Grin . I went a bit off piste with my selection    Big Grin . Corncockle pink, cornflower black ball, calendula Indian prince, larkspur sublime lilac and alstroemeria.

I was very close to getting over excited and sowing lots more.  Big Grin .
I’ve just realised. I think these are the first seeds I’ve sown in my garden    Cool .

I’ve been looking at what to sow next month already  Blush  Big Grin .

I used chiltern seeds website as they have lots of filters to narrow down the search. I chose the sowing month and flowers for cutting. You could narrow down the search more by choosing soil type, sun or shade, annual or perennial and lot of other things.

I’ve started my list of potentials  Big Grin .

Thanks SC. Even though I'd narrowed the seach down there were still over 400 flowers to choose from!
My short list is:-
Achillea,
Antirrhinum
Aquilegia
Chrysanthemum
Dianthus/Sweet William
Lathyrus/Sweet Pea
Monarda/Bee Balm
Penstemon.

I have at least 5 different sweet peas I could sow next month. Would that be cheating?

There are no Rules, Martin.Wink
Is October a good time to sow sweet peas?

Yes, you should get flowers in May if you sow next month. You can sow in modules and either leave in a cold frame until spring, or plant out in a mild spell in November if you can protect from the worst of the weather. They are pretty tough, I sometimes find self-sown plants overwintering.
