2022- Beans List

From 16 April :-
It was a CFB day but I couldn't choose which ones to sow - so I randomly selected 2 of my alphabetical seed envelopes - and pulled out B & K.
Sowed :-
Brejo (HSL)
Bob & Mary (HSL)
Blauhilde
Birds Egg
Blue Lake
Brockenhurst allotment (?CFB or RB)
Kentucky Wonder aka Old Homestead
Kew Blue
and, to fill up a gap, Hunter.

Some of these beans are well past their sow by date and this is their last chance to prove themselves worthy of a place in my random garden.

Germinated so far :-
Birds Egg
Blue Lake
Blauhilde
Kew Blue
Kentucky Wonder

Bob&Mary and Brockenhurst may be thinking about it.
The Moneyless Chicken says:-
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

Runner beans don’t know which variety yet
climbing french beans trenejavec
climbing french beans meuch
climbing french beans Kew blue
climbing french beans Cherokee trail of tears
This lot because I can plant and let them get on with it and harvest all in one go at the end of the season for drying.

No dwarf french beans this year because they live in the tunnel so need watering.
Change of plan
CFB trenejavec - didn’t germinate
CFB meuch - all came up blind ? Brilliant roots on them , so hoping they’re still grow.
CFB Kew blue - didn’t germinate
CFB Cherokee trail of tears - growing
CFB blue lake - didn’t germinate

tiger beans ( are the CFB? )  just devastated they didn’t germinate  Sad

all the CFB will grow up the bean frame. With a gap between varieties. Hopefully with a barrier of some sort as well. Still working out what & how.

bush beans yin yang. Will be growing in the tunnel.

runner beans - Greek Gigantes Will also be growing up the bean frame.
runner beans - scarlet emperor will be the first edible crop on my new plot   Big Grin  Cool . As I want to save seeds from them both I think that should be far enough apart to stop cross pollination.

butter beans (known by many many other names) I’ll be growing these in the court yard of one of the holiday cottages I clean. Again that should be far enough away to stop crossing.

that’s the plan now. Again all grown for beans not pods. Apart from scarlet emperor. Yet another veg I could go a year without growing    Blush .
Were they from me? I usually leave to dry for ages! I can send you some more?
I honestly don’t know who’s they were. 100% my own fault. I really would like a couple more if you have some available. Thank you  Heart Can I send you something in return? Yin yang or Greek gigantes , both ?

My Tigers seem ok. Happy to post some, SC, but maybe Scarlet has you covered?!

My magic mystery beans from Scarlet are all up now. Still waiting on Yin Yang, Jacob's Cattle, and a couple others which went in a bit later.

No thanks - I'm knee deep in flowers... but just got all the beans out as a friend who I give beans to every year always kills here off in the frost. It happens every year and I have to give her a new batch Big Grin  Every year she says the same " I know you told me not to start early "

Can I double check I’ve got this right.

1. Tresnjevac - best for shelling
2. Meuch - for shelling or fresh
3 cosse violette - fresh
4 Cherokee trail of tears - shelling

Thank you. No problem at all. I’d forgotten they were coming. So it was a lovely surprise.
