I-Spy....Sounds

The only deer we hear around here is the Munjacs barking. Often mistaken for foxes.

I'm a bit behind here

At this time of year it's got to be the rustle that dry fallen leaves make when you walk through them, or if you're like me kick though them just to make a noise. It's the kid in me that comes out occasionally, like the urge to chase pigeons in the market square just because they look too complacent. The family disown me on these occasions.

Linked to the smelly one, Sizzling of bacon frying, the sound and smell link together to promise a feast to come.

Steam train sound, chuff chuff, chuff chuff, whoo ooo. We've all done it as kids, pretended to be a train. I wonder what kids these day say the sound of a train is, there's not many steamers around to be an example. We probably get one up the Exeter to London line nearby once every few months.

S is for the Silence of Snow as it Softly falls. The world seems to Stop, no traffic noise, just the Squeals and Screams of excited kids (Small & big) and the Swish of Skis down the road, turning the Snow to Slush.

T is for thunder. Nothing better than sitting watching and listening to a good thunderstorm. Hearing it getting closer and louder. Then the big crack the makes you jump out of your skin, because it’s arrived overhead. Then it starts getting quieter again as it moves on. Round here usually the first indication of thunder is all the pheasants alarm call at the same time. And skew appears next to you shaking. We don’t actually get many up here. We had a lot more down south.

FYI I like the band of the same name, seen thunder 4 or 5 times.

T is for Tambourine and Triangle - the simple musical instruments that we had to play with in school. I bet the teacher went home with a headache after the lesson!!

Urban sounds and noise. The sound of heavy Traffic and car alarms and horns. Sirens and lots of people just going about their day. Just a constant sound of man made noise. I don’t miss it.

U is for Ululation.............the howling of wolves and dogs and of mourners at funerals. I can't say that I've heard these mournful sounds but my dogs do howl sometimes, usually when I leave them to go out. One starts (usually Spud, then Ted joins and finally Bess). What a racket!!

V is for vans and the noise the sliding door makes. You know a big parcel is turning up when you hear that

V is for Voices so important in getting to know someone, in my View. Although I feel that I "know" some of you, I have no idea what you sound like. Do you have local accents, deep or squeaky voices, are you loud or softly spoken? Is there humour in your voice or are you dull, boring and emotionless? Do you get your worms mixed up?
So many Variables in one's Vocal Vocabulary.

V is for Voices so important in getting to know someone, in my View. Although I feel that I "know" some of you, I have no idea what you sound like. Do you have local accents,  deep or squeaky voices, are you loud or softly spoken? Is there humour in your voice or are you dull, boring and emotionless? Do you get your worms mixed up?

I agree, do you have a Welsh accent? Has SC developed a Scots accent? I'm very Wiltshire and probably sound like a real yokel.  Oooo aah, gaffer.
