Filled the crescent bed with manure and a little of the soil from the foundations.
Placed the plants roughly where they are getting planted. Tomorrows job. It got to dark for me to finish.

Sowed some Broad beans and field beans in modules as its Fruits week.
Then attacked the fallen wire fence with bolt cutters and snips. Of course, it had been built to keep out foxes, wolves and lions, as it was part of the chicken run, so the bottom of the wire had been buried and it was double layered, chicken wire on top of pig wire. Ivy and brambles and goodness know what had grown through it so I had to use secateurs, fork and a rake.
I removed the chicken wire in big sections, spread it out on the ground and folded it in half, then quarters and so on, stamping on each fold until I had reduced them into little parcels of wire that I can stuff in the waste bin.
To be continued, hopefully tomorrow.

Cut back some of the grapevine which is taking over the shed roof and shading GH2. Its going to have a serious haircut later.
Cut out some of the brambles that are climbing out of the trampoline and up into the oak tree!
Dug up more of the chicken run fence. Need to pull up some metal stakes to free it - rocking them back and forth to loosen them. Its like pulling out a tooth. Haven't got any out yet! .........but I will. They won't beat me.

Yesterday I did some rock splitting and placing.
This morning is work, this evening is scaring small children. Not sure what I’m going to do in between. Probably more rock splitting.

More work on the old chicken run today. There are 2 posts left that I cannot budge. Having dug down a bit I can see that the posts are embedded in some very solid metal pipes. I said the other day that it was built to keep out foxes, wolves and lions - and it worked!
Also pulled up lots of ivy which is covering the ground around the fruit bushes. I can get to it more easily now that the fence is down.

Planted garlic cloves in a supermarket crate. Some were from a FREE bulb and some had been planted last year in modules and forgotten about so each module had a cluster of tiny cloves, some of which had spindly green shoots. If I'm honest, I don't really like garlic so I didn't want to give up a good planting position to them.
Took out another tomato plant from GH1 and put the old compost from the pot into a 30ltr pot. I plan to stick some canes in it and sow some mangetout for overwinter.

It rained all day so I lurked in GH1, tying up the last of the tomato plants after cutting off the dead stuff. Put some canes in for the mangetout and tied the plants to them. Also put in some supports for the Physalis which are starting to flower - looking promising for some winter fruit for my breakfast.
Stirred the hotbin contents. Need to empty some compost out of it soon.

Did a little more cleaning in the tunnel. It’s very nearly shut down for the winter. Cut down the climbing french beans. Pulled up all the finished sunflowers, just 3 little ones still flowering. Put a couple more rocks in place. Around the edges of the fence bed. Unfortunately a bit too drizzly to do any rock splitting today. Shredded (by hand) some paper & cardboard for the compost bin. Got a watering can of sea water.

In case you missed me, the internet was down all morning and the weather wasn't good enough to spend the time in the garden. Did some more "tidying" in GH1. Filled 3 x 30ltr pots with old compost from the bed. Ready for planting with summat?
