Planted out various shelling beans, courgettes, cosmos and lime nicotiana. Also sowed more Miniature White cucumbers as the first lot seem to have snuffed it.

Attacked the suckers on 2 plum trees, that were cut down a couple of years ago. Chopped and dropped the small branches on the ground around the trees.
Also pulled up lots of campion, cleavers, montbretia, dock and brambles. Seems to be an everyday occurrence at the moment.

Started digging a cottage garden bed between showers. Sown seeds. Collected sea water for samphire grass
It was a bit choppy today. I wore quite a lot of it.
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

Went to the plot twice on my own today with a fete in the park and some work in between. I'm trying to resign myself to the fact that it's not a great growing year for me and focus on weeding and tidying right now. Some seeds are also being sown, but without much hope. I'm tired but feeling a bit more positive about the allotment for now.

After a rather late start and a cooked breakfast, well it is Sunday, so far today I've planted out CFBs. Beans are rather haphazard this year, what with rotting, mice and slugs (and dare I say it, not a lot of forward planning at sowing time). I'm running out of room fast and recommended bean planting distances are being eroded as we speak, just to get plants in the ground. How many of you adhere to recommended planting distances?

Recommended planting distances?? No chance!
I spent my day in search of a gooseberry bush, hidden in the depths of the garden. I pulled up lots of vinca, dock, lovage and lemon balm (the latter is rather nice to handle compared to the others). Eventually, I cleared enough of a path to find the gooseberry bush with lots of fat berries on it. Not quite ripe yet but its a start. If I continue my exploration tomorrow, there's another gooseberry bush a bit further on. Hope that one is fruity too.
I deliberately put them in out of the way places as I hate being prickled!

Planted out the last of the runner beans, Enorma and Polestar.
Tied in the outdoor tomatoes which are romping away despite the cooler weather.
Planted out more french marigolds and zinnias.
