For me, 'when used' would be too complicated and wouldn't happen: yesterday would be a handful each of red and blackcurrants, a small onion and then some potato, leek and carrot mash. The 2 handfuls of soft fruit is most mornings through the year.
Today, I've had the soft fruit and then likely roast potatoes and parsnips, peas, leek and onion

I think we can all use whatever method suits to count the 'credit' side, the 'debit' column might be embarrassing. I'm sure by March I'll have got totally confused.

Why wait until March, JJB. Big Grin
I agree that we use whatever method works for us individually. There are no prizes at the end of the year, just an understanding of whether your garden gives back more than it takes.
There's such a variety in size of garden/time we put into it and what we grow that we can't be in competition with each other. I'll be very happy if my garden gives back more than I spend on it. Maybe it'll act as an incentive to try harder. Wink

Since you don't eat any veg, you wouldn't have anything to record. Tongue

Also agree recording in which ever way is easiest for you. Definitely not a competition. It’ll be very interesting to see what we all spend and what the garden gives back. I really haven’t got a clue on either in my own garden.

I'll have you know I had sprouts with my Christmas dinner (and will probably suffer for it later) Rolleyes

All I am saying is,we are not farmers who rely on crops being proffitable? Not too many crops can even make you break even, never mind be proffitable so just get on with it for the joy of growing and experimenting! Tongue Big Grin
