2 minutes walk away!
You lucky devil. I'm envious
I know the area like the back of my hand as I played there as a nipper. When I got married I moved 30 mies away to Newcastle with work, but always vowed I would return. Retirement allowed me to do that and I bought a house five doors away from where I spent my childhood!

Has to be the closing of Consett steel works in 1980? I worked there for 10 years and it's closure was the reason I moved. The old steelworks site is now a housing estate and lots of treeplanting has taken place in the surrounding area where I live.
Thw A68 is busier and the street where I live is now double parked with cars. Apart from that, It's much as I remember it, a quiet country hamlet where you are as likely to see tractors as cars on the road. Kato and I very rarely bump into anyone on our walks.
