OUT today - a box of new but old light bulbs and a kitchen clock with timer.
I could have gone to church today but I have so much food left from the £5 Pantry that I didn't want to add to it.

I went to church this morning! First time for a couple of months as this church had a break for the holidays. I was the last one (No 35) so was told to take anything I wanted! I like instructions like that.
Came away with 10 avocados, lychees, calabrese and sprouting broccoli, beansprout and bamboo shoots stirfry, celery, chicory, kefir, chicken and sweetcorn sandwiches, bread rolls and "This isn't streaky bacon". I don't usually buy pseudo meat, unless it very cheap - or free like this. I've just eaten some and was pleasantly surprised. Given that its 30+ years since I've eaten bacon this was a very good imitation. It fried up crisply, looked the part, smelled like smoky bacon and tasted good. It was quite crunchy to eat, like well-cooked streaky bacon. I'd buy it except its £3.50 a pack of 12 rashers which is out of my price league. However, I have 4 packets of it for nowt.

Yesterday, IN came 2 loaves of sourdough bread. This morning, 10 bananas, a loaf, sushi and some salad veg and fruit for the hotbin.
Tonight, a trip to the £5 Pantry who were having a frozen food special in order to defrost their freezers. On offer was 5 items of frozen food, 2 bags of potatoes and 4 cans of soft drinks for a fiver. For £10, we had 2 bags of KFC chicken, 2 huge boxes of chicken and chips, 2 packs of sausages, Quorn sausage rolls, veggie burgers, cottage pie and chicken chow mein. Plus 4 x 2 kg bags of spuds and 8 cans of Tango. .
With all this food, plus the veggies from church on Saturday, I shouldn't go hungry this week.

Thought I'd try out the midday £5 Pantry today - to see what the queue is like. The evening ones are by appointment, daytime is open to anyone.
I was No 15 but only had to wait about 10 minutes so I had a chat to the others who were waiting. Came away with:-
Baby potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cauli and broccoli mix, oranges, mushrooms, Iceberg lettuce, a peach, 2 pears, an avocado, eggs, Parmesan, cream cheese, a chicken pasty, fruit juice, 3 cans of coke, jam swiss roll, crisps. panini, baguettes and a bag of Nando's chicken (cooked but not spiced). There were 2 whole, flat chickens (£15 eacch according to the website) and 4 other portions in the bag! Not bad for a fiver.
I turned down courgettes, cucumbers and apples and a big iced cake with a tiger's face on it. Couldn't justify taking that when some little kids would enjoy it more.

Picked up a big bag of books from the freebie site and a part bag of dog food. Also went to a church that is new to me - they have a free Clothes and Books day once a month. Collected a few more books (you can never have too many)! Donated a few of my books too. There were plenty of clothes on offer but nothing that appealed to me - great for people with young kids though.

12 black bags of parquet flooring. No idea if we’ve got enough for a room or if we can use it with underfloor heating ( might be to thick ). I’m sure we’ll think of something to do with it.
