Thanks for that Veggie. I've just subscribed to his channel. Nice to see and hear him again as I haven't seen him in about 5 years roughly. Knowledgeable guy and a good crack!  Loves to experiment, bit like me really!

Would they all cross if flowering together - new varieties pf alliums?

No idea, but if they could cross they probably have done by now as the Elephant garlic and perennial leeks have been in the garden for years. There are always some ordinary leeks and spring onions that I leave to flower and self seed too. Can't say I've noticed anything unusual though.

I've just eaten 2 Elephant garlic scapes in a potato and apple mint frittata thing, Its given me hiccups.

I remember the two of us buying different coloured debri netting to see what difference it meant to growth. I see he came to the same conclusion as I,that blue gave the best general growth characteristics.

Just bumping this thread because its allium scape time - at least it is here.
I can't remember whether I tried leek scapes last time or not!

Don't think I would fancy leek scapes unless they were from very small leeks as they appear to have a 'caulky' centre to them.  Sam applies to my elephant garlic which is a similar size to a leek and fairly tasteless at best.
