I discovered that the random brassica that seemed to be hearting up is actually a cauliflower. I'm sure I didn't sow caulis last year!

But I’m afraid that I would have been rather scared if two lads had knocked at my door with a request to charge a phone.
Sad old world isn’t it that I would have suspected that they were “up to no good”.
Also shows how people depend on their phones to remember important numbers for them. I can’t imagine ever not knowing my parents’ phone numbers.
Anyway, well done.

I've had a few odd callers over the years - accidents, breakdowns, lost dogs and the waterboard man who comes to test the drinking water!! If it had been after dark I would have been more cautious.
I woulnt have let them in either. Regardless of the dark. I had a lady come here once and after I let her in she refused to leave - she was ill, but it has made me think twice. I would have charged their ohone hut they would have had to wait outside.

Don't worry, I wouldn't have let them into the house. We chatted in the front garden.

Many, many years ago, before I was married, I was driving home late at night. Had to stop at traffic lights and a scruffy looking lady tapped on my car window. She said that she needed a lift into town as she'd missed the last bus - said she was staying at a hotel in the town centre and her luggage was there. What could I do but give her a lift to the hotel, couldn't leave her at the roadside.
We arrived at the hotel, I went in with her to check that she was OK and, wouldn't you know it, they'd never heard of her! She had no luggage and nowhere to stay that night.
She clearly couldn't afford the room rates there but the reception recommended a cheap B&B on the outskirts and rang through to book her in. Guess who ended up taking her there? Eventually, I got home.

That reminds me of the time I was sat at traffic light at night and had a very drunk woman sit on my bonnet and wouldn’t get off! Luckily for me I was turning right when the lights changed. I took the turn rather quickly and she fell off  Big Grin . She was fine, she was back on her feet hurling abuse at me before I’d finished making the turn.  I don’t miss living in that town.
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

Very happy today.
First sweet pea is in bloom.
Beating my previous record of May 23rd.
Despite this having been such an awful winter and the plants being outside since October!
Isn’t Nature wonderful!

I was tidying up my indoor potting area (basically a big sheet of bubblewrap on the floor that I wrap up into a parcel containing a bag of compost, pots etc when I need to tidy) and found a seed that had germinated and even had its seed leaves. I'm not sure what it is - it looks familiar (seed leaves are quite brassica-like but it's otherwise giving me flower vibes) but not like anything else I have growing on my windowsills currently. I've potted it up and called it "Survivor" and am looking forward to seeing what it becomes.
Formerly self-contained, but expanding my gardening horizons beyond pots!

I was quite pleased to see a robins nest but not where it had decided to build it. I had just finished planting out all my peas and went to get the wire mesh that I use to keep the pigeons off. I just about had enough without the bit the nest was built on.

Wow, I went out to put some more flowers in my buckets in my wheelbarrow this morning and I found this!! Tge furniture man opposite has made me a sales table and was in the process of putting in a roof, hes slotted it over my wall - he saw me running back and for last week trying to save my flowers from the rain!
OMG, Im literally stunned - so kind and generous of his time. He has given one lick of undercoat paint but I will paint it black with blackboard paint so I can write on it. Its made me smile from the inside out!
