P wouldn't trust me with measuring or cutting, I think I'd be on the roof and he'd be playing with the toys. Looking good SC, once the battens are on is is the wrinkly tin next or more insulation?

Yeah Corrugated tin next on the roof. The next lot of insulation goes on the inside of the roof 2” thick sheets all the way round. We’ll probably be doing the baton on the walls while we wait for the tin to arrive.

Bob still had toys to play with on the roof. You didn’t really think he was using a hammer to nail the baton on with did you !  Big Grin .

The nail guns are great toys.
I like this one best

Get P to get you a hikoki for your birthday. You’ll never get board of using it. It’s great.

I can't control a paper stapler - I'd be hopeless with those "toys". Big Grin

The small problem of having nothing to nail might deter him getting me one.  I don't get birthday presents unless I buy them myself usually. Last year he bought me a plastic soup ladle Big Grin, I bought myself some new frying pans Smile  he's nothing if not prudent with his money.

As yesterday was very wet and not good weather to be playing on a roof. We designed our house sign. Then Bob got the laser engraver out.
We decided to go with bradan which is Gaelic for salmon. Those of you with good memories. Might remember due to the incompetence of solicitors we nearly ended up buying the salmon fishing rights to the land not actually the land   Rolleyes . So what else could we name it  Big Grin .

The wood is an old lump of greenheart from a local pier that got renovated.

Now boys and girls you need to settle another argument  Big Grin
Would you keep the sign with the hole in the wood or would you cut that bit off ?
One of us wants to keep the hole because it gives caricature. The other wants it removed. I’m not going to say who has which opinion at the moment. I’d like to know what you would do.

Cut it off. The hole isn't arty/knotty enough to look natural, I thing it looks like you have one fixing hole and not the other. BUT I'm neither arty or designery so you might not want my advice.
BTW the design is spectacular, such lovely engraving. While Bob's in the mood, get him to do a second one in case of emergencies or too much weathering.

I'd keep the hole but turn it into something. One suggestion from here is to make it into a reel on a fly rod with the rod coming up from the bottom left and ending over the salmon? (You can guess who's idea this is Wink)

I would turn the hole into something silly like an Eye or a stickman but appreciate that it would lower the tone of Bob's brilliant work so I wasn't going to mention it. Oops, I just did. Big Grin

It could be the open mouth of a salmon!
