I'm carp at getting lettuce to germinate, and when I do it's far too many. So I've sowed some in pots and put them in the fridge, is that the right thing to do? How long, if at all, do they have to stay there? Bren, come to my rescue.

Edit Reason: forgot to post what I'd sown
)
JJB I sow a pinch in a small pot and leave them either in the GH or window sill, if there's no frost they go outside covered by a bit of net so the birds don't root around disturbing the compost.
This morning I've sown a sprinkle of radish and spring onion seeds.

My single germinated ichi kuri squash has either come up blind or been nibbled, so it's likely I'll sow some trailing winter squash today, either that (as it's a bit late) or I'll make do with 4 trombas.
