JJB, you don't need to take salt, it's a desert island, you're surrounded by salt (water)!
I'm assuming this is a very fertile desert island, growing mangoes, breadfruit, sweet potatoes, papayas, bananas, and maybe a few trees - coconut, cashew, cinnamon, allspice.
So, my list:
1. kale - all sorts
2. cabbage-again, all sorts
3. beans, various
4. apples, my favourite fruit
5. chickens for eggs
6. courgettes
7. tomatoes
8. garlic
9. oats
10. sweetcorn, for cobs and to make flour

Just want to say that all of you who want a cow as a luxury item might also want a bull to do the necessary.

I'm surprised you didn't want a pregnant herring.

I'm revising.
No salt; thank you Moth, what it is to have a logical mind. Add in a bull, although I have no idea how to look after cattle. We could of course have a herd as a single item

2. Onions
3. Tomatoes
4. Kales
5. A flock of chickens - eggs & meat
6. Beans - drying and fresh
7. Chillies
8. Lemons or limes
9. Goats, two nannies and a billy - milk, cheese, butter, meat
10. Coriander for seeds and leaves
Luxury - coffee without a doubt!

Note I said cow, not heifer, i.e. one that has calved. I won't be needing 20 to 60 litres of milk a day, so with good care, a cow will stay in milk if milked daily, though the yield will drop. Even 2 litres a day is plenty. I'll be taking an old breed, maybe a Lincoln Red, a Red Poll, or an Ayrshire, docile and no horns.
