I read today that some Portuguese country folk say that, if you have Portuguese cabbage, onions and chickens in your garden you'll never starve.
On those lines, do you remember Desert Island Discs where you choose 10 records and a book and a luxury item to take with you when you're a castaway.
My Nutty question is - what 10 items of food would you take with you to your desert island and what luxury food would you choose?
This is quite difficult.
1, tromboncino - covers any courgette or squash recipe very versatile, stores well.
2, beans - very versatile & productive stores well
3, red cabbage - good cooked or raw
4, flour - so I can make flatbread
5, sunflower - so I can make oil , have seeds in my flat bread, pretty and hopefully feed the native bees so I can collect some of there honey.
6, hops - so I can make my own beer
7, rhubarb - I like it
8, carrots - very versatile
9, tomatoes - very versatile and productive
10, quail - meat & eggs
