I found 3 young honesty plants in the garden. This is brilliant because none of my seeds have germinated and none of the plants I tried to over winter in pot made it.
Builder that would like to go play in the garden.

Hearing the first cuckoo of the year, quickly followed by the second!
Seeing the first southern white admiral butterfly of the year and learning that the French call the comma butterfly Robert-le-Diable which made me laugh (They also call it the dull but obvious C-blanc or Gamma.)

I wonder what Robert did to upset the butterfly naming world

Orchids have popped up along the roadside banks joining the white asphodels, and the crickets started to sing this afternoon. They'll now sing day and night well into the summer even if it turns cold again.

My parents came over and helped for a few hours in the garden. I've been so tied up with sowing and potting on that I've not been able to get much done in terms of making beds. Definite progress on that front now though, but I'm going to need a heck of a lot more compost!

The biggest fattest slow worm I've ever seen lurking under the grass mulch on one of the veg beds.
