What's New for You in '22?

What a load of exciting stuff. I had to Google quite a few of them!
I like the sound of mertensia maritima.

I’m trying Ulam Raja (king of salads). It’s like a wild, small flowered cosmos with loads of airy pink flowers. I’ve only got five seeds and they are from a couple of years ago.
I managed to get just one plant to germinate last year which grew to about six feet tall but I must’ve started it too late, because it didn’t flower for me. I wrapped it up in gardeners’ fleece all winter in the hope that it would survive, but it didn’t like the frost.

I picked up the Mertensia at the local Seed Swap. Can't remember the sow by date but its from Pennards - though they don't seem to list it at the moment.  Its another  edible ornamental that I want to grow. Have this dream of a garden full of edible plants - nothing that isn't edible or useful!

I always like to try and grow something new for the kitchen each year, so this year it's orache (arroches in French) with a selection of half a dozen or so varieties. 
I'll let you know how I get on, but meanwhile what's new to you this year?

I'm doing orach for cut flowers ....may get to eat some too

Oh, that's exciting and means I have an excuse to not eat it if its a bit bleugh I have a packet with six varieties mixed together!

Mine is also mixed - green and red?
I'm growing it for interesting "filler /foliage"

I have grown Cape Gooseberries before in the greenhouse (even managing to keep them going for a few years) but last year decided to go for the dwarf version! Bad mistake, not only were the plants dwarf but he 'gooseberries' were the size of peas  This year I have seed to sow for the large variety which I remember grew to over 6 foot high. I need to get them sown soon though as they like a long growing season and hopefully I will be able to overwinter them again.

Nothing g exciting for me.

I am going to give asparagus a go though, got 18 crowns on order.

I'm growing chamomile hopefully I'll be able to make some tea.

My new things this year
I bought some Joan J autumn raspberries and they're thriving with even some flower buds
Golden Eye beetroot was a bit patchy germination but seems to be progressing
Garrett's Grandpa Ott morning glory is climbing and flowering
Aster pinocchio has been planted out but suffered neglect at the seedling stage so I'm not too confident, no flowers yet of course
Chinese slangen cucumber is romping away in the gh

There may be more but I've forgotten, lots of new toms but no results of those yet.

The Blue ones have been sown and are growing. The Red ones have failed.

I've sown orache three times and so far have just a single plant It's very pale green so I'm guessing blonde or blonde d'auby.
Although the single plant is a lie as I have masses of the wild/native/weed everywhere!!
