After it was agreed that I'd pick up the Cot at the weekend, the "owner" asked if I had a boy or a girl because she also had an activity table and some toys I could have!!! At that point I had to confess that I had another use for it!
I made up a tale about wanting to keep one of the dogs away from the others to give her some peace...........then the owner said she'd thought of turning it into a day bed for her dogs but they're a bit heavy being Staffies. I breathed a sigh of relief that she wasn't hurt that it wasn't going to another baby.
I'm actually thinking of making it into a raised bed on legs - growbags on the base, maybe strawberries or salad things that need to be kept clean? Hadn't thought of Butternut squash , Martin but, who knows??

That's a cot made for a baby/toddler just weighing a few pounds - those slats would unlikely take the weight of compost bags with water?

I was going to put a tray across the slats to support the bags/pots as the wood won't be outdoor proof anyway and I'm not going to treat it. At worst the legs will be removed and it will sit on bricks.

Sitting a tray on bricks maybe a better idea
