Vinny, someone sitting across the table from me also went to Spec savers this morning - he's paying £57 for 3 pairs = £19 a pair. He only needs them for computer and TV though.
When I wore specs, I paid more for lighter lenses, varifocals and non-reflective coatings. The optician told me that the best thing for me would be cataract surgery so that I wouldn't need strong lenses. Sure, enough, that's what happened and now, all I need are cheap reading glasses. Took a long time to get used to not wearing glasses - as I started when I was 8 - but now, that's all history. How are your cataracts? Big Grin

Strangely the optician said I had the beginnings of cataracts but they don't cause me bother and she said everything was fine and it was normal for someone of my age.I have worn specs since I was 15 months old but didn't wear them during my teenage years as someone told me " Girls don't make passes at guys who wear glasses"  Cry No glasses worn on my wedding photo's so perhaps they were right! Rolleyes

Optician showed me pictures of the back of eyeball and said they were excellent, but I had no idea what I was looking at and just agreed with her with a nod and smile! Smile

Morning, wide awake and have been for ages. My 7 month old granddaughter decided to leave me a gift over the weekend…a rotten cold she picked up at baby group! Oh she’s fine though!! Smile So lying here with a sore throat and blocked up nose. Tests done and it’s not Covid. Think we worry everything is Covid these days.
Anyhoo will catch up later this morning, hope you all managed a decent sleep! x

Morning all

A bit parky out again but can't really complain for the time of year. I just wonder how long I can persevere with wearing shorts? Huh

Changed my eating habits slightly as I seem to have hit a plateau in weight. Instead of one meal a day I am now only fasting for 18 hours each day. This gives me a six hour eating window usually from 12 noon to 6pm. I think my body has got used to previous regime and had dropped back into storage mode. I'll try this for a couple of weeks and see if it kick starts weight loss again?

I am still reeling from yesterdays spend on specs so am a bit reticent to contact my wood supplier for a delivery of woodchip at allotment.

Just been reading The Big Issue and realise how lucky I am to own my own home. Interesting article on fast forwarding to 2050 if we do get a good outcome from COP26 and an alternative scenario if we don't! Cry

Morning Smile

There seems to be a lot of colds going around Jay, take care.
I wear glasses just for reading, at work i used to keep them on one of those string things around my neck so I wouldn't lose them  Rolleyes   I'm always forgetting to take them shopping with me so maybe I ought to get the string back out again.

Jay, I think the cold bugs are making up for being ignored for the past 18 months. The cold going round this area is a rotten one, I had it a fortnight ago and still feeling the after effects and I've passed it on to Paul who is not usually one to succumb (no man flu for him) and he's laid low ATM. So keep up the fluids and soldier on, you have my sympathy.

Today I’m actually aloud out of isolation! Only to go and pick up my PCR test kit. Looks very much like Covid Bob (his new official title Big Grin ) has shared it with me! Spending a week sleeping on the sofa hasn’t helped. To add insult to injury, Covid Bobs isolate ends tomorrow, even if I have now got it.
Results are in. I have got it  Angry .
